Directional Drill Grundodrill | Next Level ...
Horizontal directional drilling is a complex process that places many demands on the equipment and the operator. These requirements were the guiding principles for the development of the new JSC/ACS generation. The result is a series of midi HDD drilling machines that set new standards in HDD technology with maximum automation and modular design. An intuitive operating concept and unique functions such as remote controlled drilling make the new JCS/ACS generation the most efficient and productive HDD drilling rigs in their performance class on the market.
The design of the new GRUNDODRILL generation combines numerous innovative individual solutions in one controllable drilling rig. The models in the range are available as a Jet Condition System (JCS) with single rods for drilling in conventional soils and loose rock, or as an All Condition System (ACS) with double pipe rods for complex geologies and rock. Regardless of the model, the intelligent control concept ensures that the overall performance of the drill rig is optimally transferred to the individual components according to the task.
A FLEXIBLE MODULAR SYSTEM
The modular design of the new GRUNDODRILL generation makes it possible to configure each drilling rig individually. A choice of almost forty options gives the user the flexibility to equip his drilling unit according to his field of application and the desired level of comfort. Our sales staff will be happy to advise you on the configuration of your drill rig.
SMART CONTROL
The operating concept is intuitive and self-explanatory, with almost all functions of the drilling rig controlled via a central touch screen. The intelligent control enables ergonomic working and simplifies even the most complex drilling operations. As a result, the operator can concentrate on his main task - drilling - while increasing productivity. Alternatively, all central rig functions can be controlled manually.
REMOTE CONTROLLED DRILLING
The GRUNDODRILL JCS/ACS drilling rigs are fully remote controllable even during drilling. The remote control combines the same elements as in the cabin in a rugged tablet. This allows all functions to be controlled centrally, even from outside the cabin. Combined with the camera sensor concept, full control of the drilling rig is always guaranteed, even when operating with the remote control.
Total overview
An integrated camera concept automatically provides the operator with an optimal overview of all relevant areas of the drilling rig at all times. The camera images are automatically displayed on the machine's control screen whenever they are needed. All models have a clamp camera and a shaft camera as standard. Optionally, the rig can be equipped with an additional camera to monitor the target pit.
INTEGRATED LOCATING SOLUTION
The integration of the DCI location display into the control concept of the new GRUNDODRILL generation is a unique feature that sets new standards in HDD. By fusing drilling rig and locating technology into a single unit, all relevant data is centrally collected to further simplify the drilling process.
FAST LOADERS
The rod magazine of the new generation GRUNDODRILL combines a large magazine capacity with an innovative and flexible loading concept. This clever solution guarantees very short cycle times when changing drill rods and minimum effort when reloading or removing drill rods for extra long bores.
PERFECT CONNECTION
A new generation of jet and twin-tube drill rods with ELICON thread, precisely matched to GRUNDODRILL drilling rigs, allows significantly smaller bending radii with higher performance and maximum drilling fluid capacity, even over long drilling distances. A newly designed plug-in connection for the inner rods of the twin tube rods ensures reliable torque transmission in the tightest of spaces.
CLEVERLY CONNECTED
With our cloud-based software solutions you can use your HDD drilling rigs even more efficiently - conveniently via PC, smartphone or tablet. The first modules on the digital platform are the COCKPIT for HDD fleet management, the QUICK-PLANNER 3D for three-dimensional bore path planning or the eShop for ordering accessories and spare parts.

FUNCTION
HDD Method
In the HDD method, a pilot borehole is first drilled along the planned drilling route with the drilling rig using a steerable drill head with attached drill rods. A drilling fluid made of water and the clay mineral bentonite supports the process. It is applied via nozzles in the drill head during the drilling process to flush the soil out of the drill channel and stabilise it and to cool the workings.
Via a transmitter in the drill head, the drilling progress is permanently monitored by a locating system and can be corrected if necessary. This controllability of the pilot bore allows obstacles such as existing pipelines to be bypassed or undercut. When the drill pipe is retracted, the drilling channel is enlarged by an expansion head and the attached pipe is pulled into the route. In this way, pipelines with large diameters can also be laid along flexibly plannable routes under or parallel to roads, bodies of water, railway tracks or buildings without breaking the surface in all geologies up to rock.
