How does a carton sealing machine work?

Carton sealing machines, also known as box taping machines, are operated by two side belts driving a carton through top and bottom tape dispensing rollers. These rollers apply pressure-sensitive adhesive tape to the box as it travels on the conveyor through the machine, sealing the flaps closed. Once the box exits the sealing unit, the next box is immediately ready to be fed through.

The Omni 310 model carton sealer is a semi-automatic machine that has a conveyor speed of 19 metres per minute. To suit different carton sizes, the width and height belts are manually adjustable. This machine can be used to tape cartons of a width of 110mm to 500mm and a height of 100mm to 500mm. They are ideal for production lines with consistent box sizes.

The ‘random’ type of carton sealer automatically adjusts the top and side belts to accommodate different carton sizes that are fed through. These machines are ideal for production lines where the box sizes are not consistent. This carton sealing machine can be used to tape any box that has a width of 120mm to 480mm and a height of 120mm to 450mm. The table height is adjustable from 550mm to 750mm high.

Omni Group’s automatic carton sealing machine has a conveyor speed of 19 metres per minute and can be integrated into a driven conveyor. This machine automatically closes the flaps of the carton as it enters, ready to be tape sealed closed. This carton sealer is not auto adjusting like the ‘random’ model; therefore the width and height needs to be manually adjusted to suit different carton sizes.

These automatic carton sealers can also be integrated to work in conjunction with other machines in the production line such as carton erectors, heat shrink machines and pallet wrappers. These machines are used in many different industries including food and beverage and other manufacturing, packing and distribution companies.

Several types of packaging tape machine rolls can be dispensed through these carton sealers. Most commonly, 1,000-metre packaging tape rolls are used on these machines. Omni Group also offers machine tape with 2,000 metres per roll to further increase productivity, as roll changes are less frequent.
