MSSA Puddle Torch / Powder Welding Torch ...
Powder Welding involves an oxy-acetylene flame spraying followed by Fusing as a two stage process. After spraying, the coating is fused with an oxy-acetylene burner or for mass production by using induction heating or a vacuum furnace, which allows the coating to be metallurgically bonded, extremely hard, corrosion resistant as well as resistant to impact and chipping. The powders used for Spray and Fuse hard-facing are typically compositions of Ni, Cr, Co, Bo, Fe, W and WC in varying blends. The powder is introduced into the gas stream from the integral powder hopper and then transferred to the work piece through a flame.
This process is similar to the oxy-acetylene process - with the exception that the hard-facing takes place at lower temperatures. This minimises oxidation and distortion of the work piece and enables easy surfacing of edges. By spraying molten metal directly onto affected parts it is possible to efficiently minimise wear and corrosion, create superior metallurgical bonds, correct machining errors by building up and re-matching and to repair broken cast iron parts.
Using the MSSA flame spray technique, even a novice welder can salvage broken or worn out parts – even Cast Iron.
Powder flame spray welding is recognised as probably the best and only means of repairing and protecting metal components. By spraying molten metal directly onto affected parts it is possible to efficiently minimise wear and corrosion, create superior metallurgical bonds, correct machining errors by building up and re-machining and to repair broken cast iron parts. Not only can you repair and salvage but you can also enhance new components to give better service life at low cost.
