Light Eco energy controller / Ilum-a-Lite ...
Product Description:
Ilum-a-Lite is suitable for existing commercial and industrial buildings which have large areas of lighting required for extended or 24 hour periods - schools, hospitals, supermarkets, industrial complexes, warehouses, hotels, car parking, services stations and office blocks.
Ilum-a-Lite can be used with fluorescent lighting, preferably those with iron core ballast as electronic ballasts reduce energy savings potential
Ilum-a-Lite is applicable for standard supply voltages - 220, 230, 240 Volt and 50/60Hz systems. Models LE 2.4, LE 3.8 and LE 4. 8 available for circuit loads of 10,16 and 20 Amps. Requires one unit per circuit or line.
This can be installed at the distribution board or before or after the switch for each line. Can take loads between 36 - 65 Watts. e.g. an LE 2. 4 unit controls up to 40 x 36 Watt tubes whereas an LE 4.8 unit controls up to 80 x 36 Watt tubes.
By engaging Greening Australia to plant one tree seedling per tonne of CO2 saved per project the Illum-a-lite thereby offers each client the opportunity to provide a Restorative Sustainability benefit by doubling the CO2 saving and offsetting previous emissions.
Country of Origin:
Ecospecifier Issues Of Concern / Red Lights
The bulk of the unit is recyclable metal and easy to disassemble but no recycling pathway has, as yet, been identified by manufacturer for purchasers to follow.
The company states the Light Eco technology gives optimal energy savings when used with iron core ballasts.
C1 and C2 iron core ballasts have been discontinued from the Australian market in January, 2004. Higher efficiency B1 and B2 ballasts will continue to be available and this product can continue to be use beneficially with the newer technology low loss magnetic ballasts.
Iron core ballasts and low loss high frequency magnetic copper ballasts have benefits over electronic ballasts in that they have a longer life and fewer disposal problems i.e. the copper and iron are technically recyclable and scrap metal recyclers will commonly recycle the base metals (stripping the metallic cores is a labour intensive process but with the massive increases in the cost of copper recently this increases the likelihood of large volumes of these products being recycled in the future).
