ManufactureLink has registered Australian suppliers offering finely detailed, micro laser cutting and welding using a variety of processes. This process differs from the more well known laser processes such as CO2 laser cutting.
Nd-Yag laser cutting can be used for drilling and cutting incredibly small, finely detailed parts from sheetmetals and tubing. Complex contours can be cut in materials from 0.05mm to 5mm thick in areas up to 220mm x 370mm. Cutting and drilling of stainless and nitinol tubing can be performed on diameters as small as 0.60mm.
Nd-Yag laser cutting produces cuts with a minimum kerf width, and a minimum of dross. Cuts are extremely clean and distortion is almost non-existent. Machiing is fast and cost effective.
Some example applications for fine laser cutting using the Nd-Yag laser process are stents for opening veins and arteries, electrical contacts, bone plates, surgical saws and more.
Laser welding using the Nd-Yag process can produce seam and spot welds from 0.1mm to 3.0mm in width and penetration of up to 3mm. High strength, crack free welds can be produced in steels with carbon contents below 0.2%. Other materials that can be welded with this process include tantalum, nickel, beryllium-nickel, iron-nickel alloys, titanium, copper alloys and high grade aluminium. Dissimilar or binary metals can also be welded together using this process.
Some example applications for Nd-Yag laser welding include seam welding of titanium surgical implants, welding of micro electrical connections, and attachement of machined pins to nitinol wire.
All of the above laser processes and hundreds of other manufacturing processes can be quickly and easily sourced online using ManufactureLink's innovative sourcing system.
