If you’re the owner of a Toyota with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), you’ve probably experienced first-hand some of the issues associated with the less-than-impressive DPF system.

Cost Effective Maintenance has helped many Toyota Hilux owners, with out-of-warranty vehicles, rectify their DPF issues by using FTC Decarbonizer. FTC Decarbonizer fixes Toyota DPF problems.

What is the problem with Toyota DPFs, how can you fix it?

Towards the end of 2015, Toyota Hilux, Fortuner and Prado’s were fitted with diesel particulate filters. There’s nothing new about DPFs. They’ve been around for over 10 years (with earlier versions 30 years ago in underground mining). Their role is to collect and remove excess exhaust soot, by burning it off during the “Regeneration Cycle”. And this where the problem becomes evident.

The DPF and the engine management system have been failing to effectively burn away these exhaust deposits and in many cases the vehicles are:

  • Experiencing more frequent regenerations
  • Blowing excessive white diesel smoke
  • Forced into limp mode
  • Blocking DPF filters completely
  • Using an extra 2L/100kms

Toyota DPF problems fixed…

Toyota advise they have a free fix (ECM upgrade, conducting smoke tests and replacing faulty filters). But by some accounts, this has not been satisfactory. Yet there are real life, proven “after-market” solutions that do work, are perfectly legal, and don’t affect Toyota warranty. The preferred approach is always to address the root cause, which in this case is the production of excessive soot.

For drivers doing long highway runs this isn’t such a big problem, and that’s because the fuel burns cleaner, but for the Toyota owners stuck in traffic driving under normal urban conditions, the DPF will continue to have burn offs.

With many of these Toyota’s coming to the end of their warranty period, it’s time to find a real fix, and avoid paying thousands of dollars for a replacement DPF filter.

Results after using FTC Decarbonizer:

  • Carbon and soot levels minimised
  • DPF Regenerations dramatically reduced.
  • Toyota DPF Problems Fixed

Addition of a combustion enhancer and decarbonizer, such as FTC Decarbonizer to the diesel, forces the fuel to burn cleaner under all operating conditions, and actively burns off carbon at cooler temperatures. The FTC is easily added to the diesel when refueling.
