Principle

The CMD (Crack Monitoring Device) utilizes a three-point rosette, resembling an equilateral triangle with side lengths of 50 mm, affixed to the surface. Two rosette points align parallel to the crack, while the third is placed on the opposing side of the crack, roughly halfway to the baseline.

Temperature and moisture-induced shifts, gauged between points A and B, in conjunction with crack displacement measurements between points A and C, as well as between points B and C, undergo mathematical transformation to determine crack opening or closing, along with the lateral movement relative to both sides of the crack.
