Farquhar-Still was commissioned by competitive submission for the ACT government to create a unique sculpture which has now become a much loved part of the local landscape.
The sculpture, named Cumulus Aeronauticus, refers to a cloud formed by the crossing of vapour trails left by high altitude aircraft. It has been erected outside the Scullin shopping centre in Canberra.
Farquhar-Still is a full time practicing artist who has a particular interest in steel for its sculptural and structural properties.
He has over 10 years experience as a sculpture artist and needs high quality tools to assist him in creating amazing pieces of art.
However such a sculpture provides unique challenges in regards to grinding and polishing, especially in small welding areas and unconventionally structured pipes.
