Telford Smith Screws and Barrels for ...
Whilst most suppliers specialise in either barrels or screws, Telford Smith manufactures both. Our ongoing research and engineering development ensure optimised performance of the entire process system. This reduces downtime, scrap rates and the wear which occurs due to non compatible screws and barrels. Extensive experience allows Telford Smith to recommend the screw and barrel which best suits customer requirements for specific applications and materials. Screw and barrel sets may be manufactured to customer drawings or samples.
Telford Smith design and manufacture parallel and conical screw and barrel sets from 20 to 350mm screw diameter. Typical applications include extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding and rubber processing. Replacement screw and barrel sets may be supplied for manufacturers including Battenfeld, Berstorff, Cincinnati, Davis Standard, Krauss Maffei, Leistritz, Weber, Werner and Pfleiderer.
Barrels for Extrusion / Moulding
Nitrided barrels
For standard polymer applications where abrasion and corrosion are not an issue, Telford Smith offer nitrided barrels.
Bimetallic barrels
For extended service life and performance in applications where wear and corrosion is an issue, Telford Smith offers their range of bimetallic barrels. Bimetallic barrels resist wear in applications where the polymer may have glass, talcum or calcium carbonate fillers and are the ideal choice for recycling applications. Single and twin screw bimetallic barrels are available for all sizes of plastics processing machinery.
Screws for Extrusion / Moulding
Telford Smith offers a range of high performance screws for various applications. Appropriate screw design and materials of manufacture are selected by one of our experienced process engineers. Our advanced designs and modern manufacturing facilities ensure high quality, performance and extended service life. Nitrided screws are offered for standard polymer applications and we have a range of bimetallic materials available for maximum resistance to corrosion and wear. Telford Smith supply parallel and conical screws for all machine types and sizes.
Screw Segments for Extruders
A characteristic feature of virtually all twin screw extruders is their modular design. The screw profile can easily be adjusted to the particular needs of a given process task. For this, screw segments (also called screw elements) are mounted onto a common shaft. Different screw segments are designed to give conveying, compression, reverseconveying, barrier and kneading, and are extremely resistant against corrosion and abrasion. Telford Smith supply kneading and screw elements for leading manufacturers of twin screw extruders.
Rupture Plugs for Extruders
Telford Smith stock and supply a range of rupture plugs for extrusion applications. Rupture plugs provide instantaneous pressure relief in applications where pressure build up may occur, thereby protecting equipment and operators. Each rupture plug comprises a stainless steel body with rupture disc membrane. Burst pressures range from 1,500 to 9,500 psig with an intrinsically safe design, leak tight seal up to 750 degrees F melt temperatures and an accuracy of plus/minus 5%.
