Working Principle

The bucket is filled in the normal manner, moved to the screening position and powered up by engaging the hammer circuit. During screening the larger fragments are retained in the bucket with the smaller fragments screened through apertures in the drum. When screening is finished, the hammer circuit is turned off and the bucket moved to the tip area where the retained material is tipped out.

Drums with different mesh sizes can be easily interchanged by removing 6 bolts and rolling a new drum into place.

Lloyd Engineering has used its years of experience with the rotary style of bucket to develop a new design to overcome the shortfalls of existing buckets in the market place. This rotary screening bucket has a unique conical drum that gives excellent efficiency, combined with ease of use for the operator.

Several problems with the standard rotary bucket have been eliminated by this new design:

Problems:

• The crowding geometry results in the tail of the drum dragging the ground when filling.
• During rotation, material is pushed out over the front of the bucket.
• To overcome material spillage, the bucket would be crowded at a steep angle, so the majority of the material lies in the back of the drum and does not work over the optimum drum area, which reduces output.
• The drums blind over in wet and sticky conditions, reducing potential output.
• Many screening buckets are tail heavy, giving rise to excavator linkage and ram wear.
• Conventional drums supported from the rear are normally heavy and require massive structure and support bearings, also screen dead area can be quite high due to drum structure.

Solutions:

• The conical drum combined with the optimum top hitch attachment position gives the crowding clearance.
• The angle and length of the apron in relation to the drum is critical. This new design is the result of much design work and testing and takes into consideration screening, filling and tipping angles.
• When operating, the conical drum is horizontal giving the optimum screening surface with the apron retaining material due to its large comparative angle. As the material is rotated, it is thrown forward, reducing blinding of the rear corner of the drum and allowing the operator to set the drum at the perfect angle for maximum output.
• All buckets come with a brush fitted as standard to keep the screen open and maintain optimum output.
• The Lloyd design of rotary screening bucket is a well balanced bucket, it is also stable for transport due to its full width apron.
• The drum is supported front and back, this reduces drum weight and rear leg structure. Overall, the main bucket fabrication is lighter than previous models with minimal drum dead area.
