In mid 2015, Itech Corporation were asked to provide a SIL1 rated control system to meet a delivery requirement of 10 weeks.
The scope of works was to design, write and commission the software for a marshalling yard control and monitoring system for John Holland on behalf of Transport for NSW and Sydney Trains.
The system involved 22 Rockwell PLC's networked and linked to a Vocia amplifier/sound system.
From a standing start to completion and final certification by the independent auditor, Atkins from Hong Kong, the works was completed in the time frame. This was the first time that Itech Corporation had developed SIL rated software and in the alloted time frame.
Itech built new QA documentation system based on our ISO 9001 accredited system but to incorporate all of the mandatory requirements for SIL 1, the system was firstly audited and approved by Atkins. We then implemented the system to develop the software for the integrated 22 PLC networked system to meet the SIL1 standards of EN50128 and commissioned the system with the new software while completing the design and QA documentation during the implementation phases.
The assessment of our client and their appointed independent auditors of our performance in meeting the challenge set was very complimentary, given the quantum of effort and understanding that was required.
This achievement ranks highly amongst Itech's achievements over the 22 years of the company's operations.
