The SIL 2-Capable PointWatch Eclipse® can detect methane and butane in 1.5 seconds

Standard signal outputs include isolated 4 to 20 mA output, HART communication protocol, and RS-485 serial communication supporting Modbus. A tri-colour LED provides visual display of operating status. The weather baffle provides excellent optics protection with an easy twist-lock removal. IECEx certified for global certification compliance.

• Rugged optical system to survive in the harshest of environments:
  • Heated optics to eliminate condensation and ensure that the optics remains clean and maintenance free.
  • Multi-layer optics protection weather baffle for unequalled protection in harsh environments.
• No undisclosed failures.
• No routine calibration required.
• The PIRECL is capable of detecting hundreds of flammable hydrocarbon vapors. Field-selectable algorithms are provided for methane (default), ethane, propane, butane, ethylene, and propylene. Numerous additional operating parameters are programmable via digital communications or the optional handheld communicator.
• Detailed HART diagnostics.
• Tri-Color LED provides local normal/alarm/fault status indication.

In recent competitive gas detector testing at the Detronics Test facility, PIRECL and various competitive products were tested. PIRECL was found to be consistently one of the fastest detectors to resend to gas and was the most difficult to force into false alarm.

[Competitive Detectors] A problem with some competitive detectors in steamy or humid environments where water can build up on the optics. Water absorbs IR in a very similar range to hydrocarbon gases. This can lead the detector to false alarm.
