foodpro, the triennial event that serves the food processing and manufacturing industry, will this year take place at the newly built exhibition building of the International Convention Centre in Sydney.

An exciting occasion for all members of the industry, 2017 also has important significance, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the show.

foodpro has been providing a platform for industry members to network and engage since 1967, and has grown exponentially since its inaugural event, with this year's event expected to see over 360 exhibitors cross the show floor. foodpro showcases products and innovations relevant to all aspects of the food manufacturing industry including: meat and seafood, value-add processing, beverages, dairy, fresh food and shelf foods. As such, it is considered to be a driving force behind both the Australian and New Zealand food processing industries.

Constantly evolving, this year foodpro is also excited to be partnering with Food Innovation Australia Ltd. (FIAL) to announce a brand new initiative: The Supply Chain Integrity Zone. This partnership provides an invaluable opportunity for businesses to gain insight and understanding into what is an imperative part of operations.

With security in the supply chain vital to the food manufacturing process – especially traceability and audit compliance – it can be hard for smaller manufacturers to comply in the face of costly processes, which this partnership aims to address. The majority of technologies for traceability are often geared to larger manufacturers, which causes obstacles and barriers for smaller players in the industry. The Supply Chain Integrity Zone will feature a number of businesses that provide solutions for smaller manufacturers including Smart-Trace, Aglive and Inpact Innovation. There will also be seminars providing further insight.

Further to the Supply Chain Integrity Seminars, a series of free educational sessions featuring some of the industry's leading experts sharing on pertinent topics will provide advice and learnings across a broad range of subjects including the future of decision making in the food supply chain, how technology has advanced mobile robots and improve food processing; and a new era in foreign body identification with insight into how to protect your brand.

foodpro 2017 is also co-locating with the Australian Institute of Food Science & Technology's (AIFST) annual convention, where over 600 delegates are expected to attend the two-day convention on the topic of The Future of Food. With so much on offer, it's no surprise that this year's show will have the largest floor space ever in the history of the event - taking over 23,500 square metres of the newly built Sydney International Convention Centre's exhibition building in Darling Harbour.

As the event sees a large contingent of interstate and regional visitors, the ICC is centrally located and getting to the venue is simple, with light rail stops at the venue, buses that run close to the venue, readily accessible taxi ranks, the nearest train just a ten minute walk away, while arrival on the water is possible by ferry or water taxi. For further information on getting to the event, check out the foodpro website foodproexh.com/gettingthere.

foodpro 2017 will undoubtedly be the most important event in the food processing industry's calendar this year.  The trends and focus on added-value opportunities across all areas of manufacturing including packaging, processing, equipment and ingredients will be second-to-none at foodpro 2017.
