RFBS prides itself on being able to solve business problems by strategically applying identification and mobility technologies in an economical way. As our experience with AME products shows:

Batch order picking saves over 40% of time spent picking

The Company
AME Products is a wholesale importer and distributor of quality name brand auto electrical products. AME has grown from a small 170sqm warehouse in 1992 into a well respected and competitive supplier within Australia with over 14,000 product lines and almost 4,000sqm of warehouse space.

The Challenge
Many of the AME product lines are similar in appearance. Therefore, error rates in the warehouse were high due to picking staff being unable to distinguish the correct part quickly. The warehouse throughput was slow as every order had to be double checked prior to dispatch which took time and resources.

The Navigator Solution
After meeting with key personnel in the warehouse and administration to fully understand the issues from all sides, RFBS recommended the installation of Navigator Warehouse, to allow order picking staff to utilize barcode scanning to increase accuracy.

Datalogic Skorpio handheld scanners replaced clipboards in the warehouse and deliver pick slips automatically as the sales order was processed by sales staff in Momentum Pro, their accounting package. Real time communications allow sales orders to be updated and changed until the final item is picked in the warehouse. Multiple customer orders are automatically consolidated along with "back orders" and "with next goods" orders.

The Result
Navigator Warehouse integrates with Momentum Pro using the E-Gateway XML transfer tool.

Order pickers are directed around the warehouse using a pre-defined pick path with every item picked confirmed via the barcode reader. Accuracy and speed is improved because operators must scan the correct product barcode before they are able to proceed.

A shipping procedure consolidates multiple pick totes into a larger carton and records outbound freight details before automatically invoicing the order in Momentum Pro (again via E-Gateway).

Saving time, money and helping to make the warehouse run more efficiently and smoothly.
